On February 11th 2012, “Wulin Hanyun” the Spring Festival fiery which is sponsored by HanBan, the Education Department of Henan Province and Confucius Institute of Bologna University, has been staged at the Martial Arts Museum in Renato Dall'Ara Sports Center, in order to celebrate Dragon Year of the Chinese Spring Festival. Because of several days’ snow, the historical and cultural city Bologna is clad in silvery white, but in the Martial Arts Museum are ablaze with our guests and friends.

It is reported that for the successful holding of this event the Instituto Confucio in Bologna stared the preparation work since last November. But in the past two weeks before the event heavy snow and cold wind caused public places into closed state according to the government order.Facing the unexpected situation，the Instituto Confucio immediately response the emergency and cooperate with the local overseas Chinese to overcome the difficulties and finally hold this event successfully.

There were 27 performers composed by the Zhongguo Songshan Shaolin Temple School and folk musicians. They gave the 200-member a brilliant Kongfu show and traditional Chinese music performance.

Representative of the mayor of Bologna city council Clalidio Mazzanti, the director of Confucius Institute Professor Xu Yumin, Hanban Project Officers An Shi and Zhang Yue, and the overseas Chinese representative Mr. Liu Hongyuan attended the performance.

Before the performance, Mr. Claldio Mazzanti gave a speech to review the good relationship between Chinese and Italians in Bologna. And he is on half of the mayor to appreciate the outstanding contributions made by Confucius Institute of Bologna university during the past 3 years and thanked the performers who insisted on performing regardless of how heavy the snow is.

The director of Confucius Institute Professor Xu Yumin thanked all the audience members who are not afraid the big snow and cold to come to the performance and especially expressed her sincere thanks to all performances, Bologna municipal government as well as enthusiastic overseas Chinese for great support. Dean Xu also reviewed the development of Confucius Institute at Bologna, gave the information about the Chinese language courses, HSK and Chinese scholarship and showed warm welcome to all the people who are interested in Chinese.

Accompanied by the sonorous music, Shaolin Martial Arts Group and the Bologna Wushu Association soffer the audience a wonderful kongfu performance. As a never rehearsed and temporary program, kongfu is the only common language between the two parts. But just because of the common language-“kongfu”, they give the audience an excellent program at the beginning of the performance.

The annoy of traditional Chinese instruments that were on the stage including the guzheng, erhu, pipa etc. to be placed on the stage, stimulated the audience. Four folk music performers from the Universities of Henan Province represent the traditional Chinese music instruments to audiences, and demonstrated representative songs in order to deepen the audiences’ understanding of it. And then, the four folk musicians played the typical Chinese folk song “Jinshekuangwu” and Italian folk music “Santa Lucia ". All the audience were impressed by their amazing performance and gave a standing ovation for the show.

As the source of world martial arts, Shaolin martial arts, with a history of more than 1500 years, has become a visiting card of China, renowned at home and abroad. It is “powerful and mysterious” in the mind of the audience for whom it was who is the first time to watch the Shaolin Martial Arts, but the “Kung Fu Animal” brought them a new understanding of it.

The Kungfu actors changed their serious and resolute style, show their eagle claw boxing, monkey boxing, frog boxing，tiger boxing and scorpion boxing. Their vivid expressions and excellent skills break out big applause and laughter from the audience time to time. A student of the Instituto Confucio said:” I did not expect that Shaolin Kungfu is so interesting.”

With great visual impact, the“18 Weapons of Shaolin” showed their perfect skills.

A heavy knife weighing about 20 pounds were easily controlled by the Kungfu master in hand; then the Shaolin stick brings whistling wind; bursting of the ShaoLin knife showed the tiger’s speed; bursting of the Shaolin spear shows the dragon’s power; bursting of the nine-section whip sounds ear-splitting; bursting of the Shaolin sword shows a eagle’s heroic posture…

The most engrossing and unique part who demonstrated the final program “Shaolin Hard Qigong”. Three Kongfu masters show their fantastic Qigong in turns: pin goes through the glass by Mr. Wang Wei; head breaks the steel plate by Mr. Jiao Jidong; body breaks the stick by Mr. Hou Meng. The amazing professional performance shows their muscles of steel by practicing Shaolin Kungfu and makes the audience give enthusiastic applause. The martial arts fans in the front row thumb and shouting: “Bravo! Bravo!”

With the melody of a Chinese song “Friendship Forever”and a lasting applause, the leader of the Songshan Shaolin Wushu Vocational Institute Mr. Xu Hengzhen, exchanging gifts with Dean of the Instituto Confucio in Bologna Mrs. Xu Yumin and coach of Martial Arts Association in Bologna Mr. Du Lesi. Mr. Clalidio Mazzantialong stands for the mayor congratulated on the complete success of Shaolin Kongfu show today. The officer of Hanban Ms. An Shi said: “although there are so many difficulties before the event, under the hard-work of Instituto Confucio in Bologna, we make a great success and achieve our triple tasks here.”
