In commemoration, many traditional Chinese operas have opened the curtains with a new spark of life. The spotlight shines on “The White Haired Girl".

"The White-Haired Girl" is one of China's most popular revolutionary-themed operas. It first took to the stage in 1945.

Based on the folk legends of north China, it represents a milestone in the history of China's national operas.

But to audiences born in the 80s and 90s, it is a bygone generation.

Yu Feng, president of China National Opera House, said, "After 1978 this show was rarely performed to audience. But it has historic value and opera values. "

The remake opera successfully melts together Chinese folk music with western opera elements. Songs from the 1940s such as" the blowing north wind", and "tying the red ribbon" have marked their score in the classics.

From May 4th to June 7th, other classics in Peking opera, ballet and world symphonies are ringing out in the Great Hall of the People and China's National Grand Theatre.

Some shows are free to attend, in line with the theme of art to serve the people.
