On September 9th, Wuhan University was named a “National Education Base for Ecological Civilization” at the ninth China Urban Forest Forum held in Hulunbeir City, Inner Mongolia. WHU is the third top-tier university to receive this title after Beijing University and Fudan University.

With the advantages of natural resources, WHU has established a group of ecologically-focused, distinct facilities, where the University has conducted a series of volunteer and social practice activities premised on a green civilization. A large number of students and faculty have been involved in these activities. WHU is continuing to strengthen these facilities and research in order to further contribute to sustainable development.
The “National Education Base for Ecological Civilization”, is a joint award from the State Forestry Administration, the Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. It refers to locations that combine excellent education and a focus on ecological studies, green technology and sustainable development.
