The work permits of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao residents may be extended if they plan to continue their employment with their current employer in Guangzhou. The employer should initiate the procedures for the extension of the work permit with the department which issued the work permit at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the validity period of the work permit. To apply for an extension, the following documents should be submitted:

● A completed and stamped Application Form for Extension of the Work Permits of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Residents in China Mainland; 

● The original of the Work Permits of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Residents;

● Photocopies of the business license of the employer (if the employer is a branch of a company, a photocopy of the head office’s business license should be furnished as well), the registration certificate of a private non-enterprise organization or a permanent representative office, and the organizational code certificate; if the individual is the representative of a permanent representative office in Guangzhou, a photocopy of the valid work permit of the office issued by the Administration of Industry and Commerce is required;

● In the event of any changes in the original application documents for the work permit, the related documentary proof and photocopies should be provided (not required if there is no change):

1. A photocopy of the individual’s current valid mainland travel permit if there is a change in his or her original travel permit; 

2. If the individual’s original service contract has expired, the original of his or her new service contract should be provided; if the individual’s original relocation certificate has expired, the new one issued by the employer abroad or in Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macao must be provided; if the individual is a representative of a permanent representative office of an overseas, Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macao enterprise, a stamped photocopy of the work permit of the office with a valid extension should be furnished;

(Note: If the original permit’s information pages are full and therefore a new one is requested, a 2-inch color photo of the individual without hat should be submitted; if the original permit has expired, the individual must complete the procedures for applying for a work permit.) 

Timeframe for Application Processing: Normally five workdays, and up to 10 workdays if necessary.
